News from Seminole Trails - prep work for a new trail reroute!
On a chilly February weekend, a small but mighty crew came out to tackle invasive honeysuckle along the Inner Loop reroute area — and wow, did they deliver.
On Saturday, eight brave volunteers, led by trail steward Richard Schick, jumped in to clear and stage more brush than they ever expected, setting the stage for burn day. By Sunday, with special permission from the Fitchburg Fire Department in hand, they lit the piles and kept the flames fed, cutting and hauling honeysuckle until the last stacks were gone.
Thanks to everyone who showed up ready to work! Major progress was made toward an exciting Inner Loop reroute that will add elevation, challenge, and more interesting terrain. This effort is just one piece of a bigger vision for ecological restoration in the park.
This work showed what’s possible when people come together. If you’re interested in future invasive removal or helping replace them with native plants, we’d love to hear from you. Contact us at Info@CORPTrails.org
Huge thanks to everyone who chipped in. Your teamwork made a real impact.
