Spring 2026 Trail Maintenance

Our annual Spring work days were a huge success! Volunteers from across the region showed up in force to repair trails, build new features, and expand our ever-growing network of singletrack.

Exciting news from Blue Mound is that, thanks to the work of many volunteers, and years of planning, the Pokerville trail is now a lollypop! Get out there and enjoy some rocky goodness!

Torrential April rains meant a crew of over twenty volunteers at the Dodgeville cluster repaired washed-out sections of trail and improved drainage. Similarly, at Blackhawk Ski Club and Middleton Bike Park, over a dozen volunteers addressed erosion issues and removed invasive species along the trail corridor, ensuring we leave the land better than we found it. The expansion at Driftless Downs continues with a new climb and descent added in Scenic Valley, bringing the total singletrack in Cross Plains to nearly five miles.

In Prairie du Sac nearly two dozen volunteers at the Dam Trails braved the chilly winds to reroute two trails on the banks of the Wisconsin River. Moving north to Baraboo, another group of volunteers de-bermed trails, cleared brush, and rock armored creek crossings to get things dialed for the coming season.

At Quarry Park, nearly twenty volunteers showed up to resurface the pump track, renovate two berms, and continue the revitalization of the Playground jump line. Similarly, at Aldo Leopold, two volunteers moved nearly 14 yards of dirt on their own to raise the tread and correct drainage issues along the trail. Get in touch with the trail steward to finish this crucial work!

New Glarus Woods volunteers improved drainage and removed deadfall, gearing up for another singletrack expansion this coming fall. Lastly, a large group of volunteers was able to complete a plethora of projects at Quarry Ridge, breathing life back into some of the most well-loved trails. Lots of dirt was moved to resurface jumps, improve corners, create water bars, and improve drainage, making the features more weather-resistant.

While most of the spring trail work days have wrapped up, the work never ends, and our trail stewards can always use more help, be it moving dirt or weed trimming, making donations to purchase new tools, or becoming a member. With your support, our community will continue to thrive.
