New CORP Trails in Baraboo

CORP Trails is excited to announce a new trail system to our community! Chief Nąąga Keramąnį (NAH-Kaw KAY-dah-mah-nee) Park, with nearly three miles of hand-cut singletrack in a new city park east of Baraboo, is now open to the public thanks to a collaboration between the City of Baraboo and dedicated volunteers from Baraboo Area Mountain Bike Association (BAMBA), Friends of Baraboo Parks, and CORP Trails, with translation from the Hoocąk Waazijaci  Language Division of the Hoocąk Academy in Black River Falls and voiceover by Kurt Greendeer. 

Named after a principal chief of the Ho-Chunk who lived during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, this new network offers green, blue, and black singletrack with a mix of flow and old-school tech. The Ho-Chunk trail names honor the long-time settlement of Baraboo by the Ho-Chunk people and the earthen mound builders who came before them, as well as the critically endangered Ho-Chunk language (Nąąga Keramąnį itself meaning “sky walker”).
