Student Riders Make the Grade at Middleton and Nearby Trails
Trail love was in full force Thursday night as more than two dozen student-athletes and coaches teamed up with Middleton Bike Park stewards Jon Augspurger and William Lorman for a major round of maintenance.
Armed with a variety of tools, and plenty of energy, the crew tackled a long list of projects: trimming back the Fairway, Mulligan, and Slice, deberming, decupping, and refreshing features on Fairway, and even getting a jump start on leaf-blowing for fall. With Jon and William’s game plan in place, the volunteers split into groups and hit different sections of the park—covering a ton of ground in just one evening.
The same night Driftless had volunteers at Blackhawk and Cross Plains! So appreciated!
The result? Trails in better shape for everyone who rides them, (no tall grass slapping your face in the prairie!) and a stronger partnership between CORP Trails stewards and the NICA community. Nights like this prove what we can do when riders, coaches, and trail crews work together: keep the stoke high and the trails dialed.
Big thanks to Jon and William for planning and leading at MBP as well as to our other volunteer leaders at Blackhawk and Cross Plains. AND, to everyone who helped—your work is critical to keeping our local trails wide open and rolling smooth!
