Blue Mound Work Day

  • Blue Mound State Park 4350 Mounds Park Road Blue Mounds, WI, 53517 United States (map)

Stay tuned on guidance for best parking location, but we'll need to get to the end of Pokerville.

What to bring: Work gloves, long pants, sunglasses/safety glasses, sturdy closed toe shoes/boots, water bottle, bug spray

We will have plenty of hand tools available for volunteers, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have one you are particularly fond of.

After we wrap up the trail work, we will have food and beverages available so everyone can relax, socialize, and revel in our successes.

Please RSVP if you can make it so we can try to have a rough estimate of how many people to expect, but if you decide to come last minute, please do so!

If you are willing/able to lead a small group (3-5) of other volunteers, please let me know.

If you are very familiar with Pokerville, you may remember that the original trail officially ended at the last creek crossing, and over the years had gradually been stretched a few hundred feet to the point where it nearly reached the Military Ridge trail. Then, when the return loop was flagged several years ago, it started at the end of the "social" trail, which completed our loop, but left us with a section that was essentially just a "worn-in" path.

The plan for the next work day is to build an actual trail connecting the two segments, which will be much more interesting, and include several rocky features.

This section is flagged off and cleared, and ready to build, and with a turn-out similar to the last work day, should be able to ride by the end of the day.
