Master Light Trail Building Class

Learn the fundamentals of sustainable trail design and maintenance in this hands-on workshop led by CORP trail experts. Whether you're new to trail work or looking to refine your skills, this class covers essential techniques for building and maintaining high-quality mountain biking trails. No experience necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and be ready to dig in!

This class taught by Mike Riter of Trail Design Specialists will take place at Blue Mound State Park Friends Shelter, Blue Mounds, WI. Hosts are CORP Trails and the Wisconsin DNR. It will cover the agenda below. 

Saturday, May 31, 8:30 am – 4 pm 

The day starts in the classroom and introduces the training sessions. The program will then move into basic trail design and cover the principles of creating sustainable trails. The rest of the day will focus on trail construction and maintenance techniques. A review and Q&A will complete the day.

Sunday, June 1, 8:30 am – 2 pm 

The day begins at the trailhead to recap techniques from day one.  After conducting a safety talk, the group will proceed to the work site and perform hands-on trail work/training for the rest of the day. This work may include; full bench trail construction if working on new trail or trail re-construction, berm removal, rolling grade dip, existing structure re-construction or proper removal of encroaching brush if working on an existing trail.

The cost of this class is covered by the DNR and CORP Trails
