Cross Plains’ Driftless Downs Expansion
CORP Trails and the Village of Cross Plains are excited to announce a partnership to expand the Driftless Downs mountain bike trail system with an additional two miles of professionally designed singletrack nestled in the hills west of the Village's downtown. This expansion will grow the network from four to six miles and sets the stage for a future bike park, enhancing Cross Plains' quality of life as a community by promoting quality, in-demand recreational amenities.
CORP Trails will lead the effort by sourcing project funding and managing trail construction with professionals and volunteers, in collaboration with the Village of Cross Plains Parks & Recreation Department. Together, they aim to add sustainable, fun, and accessible trails to an already great system. When completed at a total of six miles, the intent is to make Driftless Downs trails an attraction that attracts visitors to downtown who consider spending more time in Cross Plains.
The expanded trail system is expected to boost economic activity in downtown Cross Plains by drawing in riders from across the region. It will also improve the existing trails as a critical practice venue for local NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) teams, offering young riders a safe and challenging place to develop their skills.
Trail construction is expected to begin in 2026, depending on funding.
