Cross Plains’ Driftless Downs Expansion

CORP Trails and the Village of Cross Plains are pumped to announce a new partnership to grow the Driftless Downs mountain bike trail system with two more miles of professionally designed singletrack tucked into the rolling hills just west of downtown. This expansion will take the network from four to six miles and lay the groundwork for a future bike park — making Cross Plains an even more attractive place to live, visit, and ride by offering high-quality, in-demand recreation opportunities.

CORP Trails will steer the effort, lining up funding and coordinating trail construction with a mix of professional builders and passionate volunteers, in collaboration with the Cross Plains Parks & Recreation Department. Together, they’ll deliver sustainable, fun, and accessible new trails to build on what’s already a great local system.

When finished, the six-mile Driftless Downs network aims to draw more visitors downtown, encouraging them to spend time exploring everything Cross Plains has to offer. Even better, the expansion will boost the area’s economy and create an outstanding practice venue for local NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) teams, giving young riders a safe, challenging spot to hone their skills.

Trail construction is planned to kick off in 2026, depending on funding. Stay tuned — Driftless Downs is about to get even better! Donations made below will be restricted to Driftless Downs.
