Blue Mounds Improvements and Additions

Critical improvements

Just over a quarter-mile poorly draining trail on Holy Schist has been updated to help open the trail sooner in the spring and after heavy rains. Volunteers elevated the trail bed to improve drainage problems on this climb. In addition to making the trails more resilient against weather events, technical rock features were added to improve durability. Thanks to Jeff Bartels for running the backhoe for 3 days and to Jay Gunderson, who coordinated nearly a dozen volunteers to help get the rock armoring and shaping done.

New Pokerville Loop Completed!

Earlier in the year, BMSP volunteers finished building over half a mile of new, hand-built trail in the Pokerville trail system; Pokerville is now a loop! This massive effort came together over two separate trail-building days this summer, with 20 to 25 volunteers turning out each day.

Special thanks to Chris Berge at the Olbert Alvin Opera House and Coffee Shop in Blue Mounds for providing us with what some considered a five-star meal after our successful workday. It takes a community to maintain these trails!
